KIDDY COMBO HEADQUARTERS

Inspiration by creator Carin smolinski

When tasked with designing a Kiddy Combo Camps HQ for Whistler Racket Club, it was important to create a space that was a cozy, inviting environment for children to chillax, eat their lunch in and engage their creativity and move their bodies.  They already have such phenomenal indoor and outdoor spaces where they can bike, play, dance, play tennis, x country ski, have snowplay while they develop their gross motor skills, so we needed a space that stayed true to their core mission of athletics, while also providing the space and resources to ground the children while they recharge.  By observing the winter camp for a week, I saw a strong need for a versatile space that provided FUNdamental elements.

Steering away from chaotic primary colours, I drew inspiration from the glorious natural surroundings of Whistler.  Billowing sheer curtains representing the snow and clouds, turquoise to represent the many glacier fed lakes, shades of green to mimic the trees and grass, rounded off with wooden accents and clean uncluttered spaces.

It brings me such joy to see the children thriving in their new headquarters.  The coaches have brought the design to life with all their diverse activities that they lead each day!  It was a pleasure to design and setup this space for WRC and KCC. What LUCKY DUCKIES those children are!
